How to Read Tarot Cards: A Simple Guide for Beginners
October 18, 2026 · Foxy Unnie
Tarot is a deck of 78 cards that helps you look at a situation from a new angle. You do not need special powers to start. You need a clear question and a little curiosity.
1. Know the two parts of the deck
- Major Arcana (22 cards): big life themes, like The Fool for new beginnings or The Tower for sudden change.
- Minor Arcana (56 cards): everyday events, in four suits. Wands are passion, Cups are feelings, Swords are thoughts, and Pentacles are money and work.
2. Ask an open question
“Will he text me?” gives you little to work with. “What should I understand about this relationship?” opens the reading up.
3. Choose a simple spread
Start with one card a day, or three cards for past, present and future. You can try both in the free tarot reading.
4. Read upright and reversed
A reversed card is not “bad”. It usually means the energy is blocked, delayed or turned inward.
5. Trust your first impression
Look at the picture before you look up the meaning. What you notice first often matters most.
